Very exciting times at Bennett Racing with the recent acquisition of high class Gr2 Italian
Derby winner Ardakan. The German trained colt with a Timeform rating of 115, was sourced
by International Bloodstock Agent Stuart Boman and after lengthy negotiations the colt was
secured last week pending veterinary tests. A terrific type of colt Ardakan has still got some
maturing to do, so he has it all ahead of him. A winner of 2 of his 7 starts and placing
another 4 times Ardakan first came under notice when winning the Gr2 Italian Derby at his
5 th start. His last start 3 rd in the Gr1 Grosser Preis von Berlin 2400m against all ages really
saw the colts class shine through.
Ardakan will be campaigned internationally before heading over to Australia possibly next
year for the Cups. He holds an invitation to the rich US$1m Caesar Jockey Club Invitational
Derby (Gr 3, 2400m) at Belmont Park in USA on 17 September. If the colt can win that race
he will gain automatic entry into the US $4 Million Breeders Cup Turf (Gr1 2400m ) 5 th
November. Its very exciting to campaign this top class colt overseas with very genuine
chances to improve on his already great race record.
A truly exciting prospect with great determination in his races, Ardakan sire was the truly
brilliant Reliable Man who was a runaway winner here in Australia of the Gr1 Queen
Elizabeth Stks trouncing a quality field which included Champion Dundeel. From a strong
Black type German family as well Ardakan appeals as a potential stallion prospect as well.
Like our other imports Ardakan was syndicated out in relatively quick time with many Bennett
racing owners jumping the que, registering their interests early. A sincere thankyou to you
all.
The exciting French Provencal Derby winning colt Night Endevour was purchased a month
earlier and makes his way out to Australia in September. A winner of 3 of his 8 starts and
placing 4 times, Night Endevour also showed real grit and determination in his wins.
The French trained colt has a Timeform rating of 106 and looks a great Australian prospect as he can reel off super sections. The Shalaa colt, who is also proving to be very successful here as a sire, also owns a wonderful strong blacktype family full of top flight Gr1 German winners. A magnificent type of colt Night Endevour has more strength and scope than a lot of his sires stock. Ciaron Maher and Dave
Eustace are particularly excited about training this colt and what levels he could end up at.
Carrying nominations to the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups this season the colt has already
passed most clauses to make the fields.
Just like Ardakan, Night Endevour was filled in very quick time with many of our
owners realizing his potential.
