A great ride by Harry Grace saw Bennett Racing 4yo mare Katering easily win her Maiden over 1400m 1st up at Warnambool on Saturday. Having just her 3rd race start for Tom Dabernig, the daughter of Sebring hadn’t been seen at the track since April this year. After placing at her 1st start Katering pulled up with fetlock chips at her 2nd start. After a successful surgery and aftercare at Wyndholm Park the mare presented at Warnambool after 3 very good trials.
Harry Grace he elected to take a sit on Katering, in blinkers for the first time, after jumping well and travelling well underneath him. It really looked to be going to plan thereafter as she continued to travel well. But with a wall of horses in front of him turning for home, Harry still didn’t panic and darted the mare to the inside racing away for an easy 2 Len win in good time.
Judging by the strength of her win against some nice horses Katering may have more to offer especially as the tracks get some cut in them. A very promising performance by the 4yo after some promising efforts earlier. Tom was thrilled with her win and was spot on in his pre race saying she would be very strong at the end.
A 120k purchase from Magic Millions Katering is another winner for one of Katie Prices favourite’s the stakeswinning Zedative mare Kakakakatie. Gerry Harvey named Kakakakatie after his wife and remained in the ownership.
Now a winning daughter of deceased champion sire Sebring and a sister to 2 stakeshorses, Katering will be a sort after broodmare when she finishes racing.
Tom reported on Monday that Katering had pulled up very well and would not aim too high just yet as he feels she can win again next up if placed correctly.

Katering is the 30th winner for Bennett Racing from 43 runners.
