Bennett Racing 4yo mare Street Delight looks to have returned to racing better than ever after her strong win 1st up on Thursday night at Pakenham. The daughter of Street Boss last raced in November last year after a good 5 run campaign in Adelaide winning at metro grade and placing 2nd twice. The mare stayed in Victoria this campaign after spelling well but trainer Phillip Stokes was left scratching his head after 2 lacklustre trials. But on Thursday night the mare made lie of the trial form coming from behind to win easy.
Under jockey Daniel Stackhouse, Street Delight jumped well and settled just off the pace early. Daniel knowing he had the fav behind him, let her drift one pair back further in the small field. Street Delight was always travelling well and upon turning for home she ended up with a wall in front of her. Daniel eased her out widest with 200m to go and she showed a great turn of foot to easily mow down the fav and win running away by a ½ len. As a 2yo Street Delight was Gr3 4th placed and a winner at Sandown. Moved over to the Stokes Stable in Adelaide, she has added another metro win and numerous placings. She took her overall record to 22 starts, 3 – 4 – 1 $190,585.
The daughter of top sire Street Boss, Street Delight was a 100k purchase from the 2021 MM Adelaide Yearling Sale and sold by Edinburgh Park NSW. She is the best of 4 winners from 4 runners of the very good racemare Whitten’s Delight who was a daughter of former top racehorse Barely A Moment.
Congratulations to all owners in Street Delight and thankyou to Phil Stokes and his Team for a terrific 1st up win by the mare. Judging by the way she attacked the line, Street Delight seems to be in for a very good prep and looks certain to add to her record.
