Another thrilling win for Dayan Star at Launceston on Friday over 1430m. The son of Zoustar was having his 2nd start for trainer Glenn Stevenson after the retirement of Imogen Miller.
Dayan Star had developed a habit of missing the start which had got increasingly worse but with a lot of hard work from Glenn and his Team the 6yo gelding with Anthony Darmanin in the saddle jumped with the field before drifting back. Down the side the horse was still last but in contact with the field. Anthony set him alight turning for home, pulling him out wide and the horse accelerated quickly, hitting the lead with 100m to go. The horse let down beautifully but he did seem to loaf once hitting the front. The win was comfortable in the end with Anthony impressed with the horse’s effort and praised Glenn for all the barrier work done.
The move down to the Apple Isle has suited Dayan Star and his 16 Tasmanian runs have netted 4 wins and with 14 top 4 finishes he has amassed over 88k in prizemoney there!
The win took Dayan Star’s overall career to 29 starts, 5 – 6 – 4 $152,455. He was a 135k purchase from his breeders Yarramalong Park, Kalbar, Qld from the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. He is a son of Champion Sire Zoustar from the very good stakes mare Maracoola (Freeze).
Congratulations to all owners in Dayan Star and a special thankyou to Glen Stevenson and his Team on another great win by Dayan Star in Tasmania.
