A barnstorming finish and a great ride saw Bennett Racing’s Beauty Bound win again at Oakbank on Saturday. The mare was 1st up since the 13 December but recent trials had shown she had come back better than ever.
Drawing an inside barrier seemed not the place to be on the day but apprentice Ms Taylor Johnstone, who had trialed the mare leading into the run, placed her perfectly behind the leaders after jumping well. Approaching the home turn, Taylor took the mare to the outside of the favourite and began a long run in the short straight, coming widest with a withering run to get up running away.
The mare showed an electric turn of foot and seems to have really found her mark in South Australia since joining the Stokes Stable. Beauty Bound was having her 6th start for the Stokes Team since transferring from Annabel Neasham and took her record for the stable to 3 wins and 2 x 2nds all at metropolitan level. Beauty Bound also seems to be maturing also and she has become a lot more settled and easier to place in a race.
The win took Beauty Bounds overall record to 13 starts, 4 – 4 – 0 $130,460 in prizemoney.
Beauty Bound is a daughter of Champion sire Sebring and was a 110k purchase at the 2021 Gold Coast March Yearling sale buy from her breeders Lyndhurst Farm at Warwick. She is the 5th winner for the Secret Savings mare Bella Vedera who as you would know is also the dam of a real Bennett Racing favourite in Goldifox. Bella Vedera is a ½ sister to Bennett Racing’s metro winning Royal Obsession and the very smart Group winning filly Twilight Royale dam of Snitzel filly Serasana who won the Gr2 Sandown Guineas. This family has always been represented by some very high prices in the Sales ring.
Congratulations to all owners in Beauty Bound and special thankyou to Phillip Tommy Stokes and their Teams for having Beauty Bound ready to win 1st up.
