Bennett Racing’s smart 6yo Zou Sensation made it 3 wins on end with an arrogant win at Flemington 2/8. With regular rider Jamie Melham on board, Zou Sensation jumped well and seemed to take charge of Jamie, bowling along in front at a good strong gallop. He never let up on the intensity throughout and rounding the turn he kicked clear. Coming to the 200m, Zou Sensation looked vulnerable as the pack started to charge down the outside but he rallied strongly to win by 0.25L.

Jamie was very impressed with the win biting the gelding really had done it all himself with her just being a passenger. This was an excellent win by a horse who seems to be over his issues and is absolutely airborne. The Team has him flying, he is holding his condition well and just keeps stepping up to the mark. The win took Zou Sensations Vic rating to 97.

Zou Sensation may now be aimed at the 1 mil Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stks on 20th  September.  Already a dual winner at Caulfield including an impressive win over 1400m there, Zou Sensation looks an ideal Sir Rupert Clarke horse.  Zou Sensation’s overall career: 25 starts, 7 – 3 – 4 $541,150. He is a 6 time Metro Winner and Stakes Placed as a 2yo.

Zou Sensation is by Champion Sire Zoustar, Zou Sensation was a 150k Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud. He is one of only two foals for his dam the Danehill Dancer mare Dame Claire (NZ ) who was a winner of the Listed VRC Andrew Ramsden Stakes and also the Listed MRC RM Ansett Classic. Certainly bred to stay a distance Dame Claire comes from the family of smart stayer Horrifying and International Group winners many bred by The Aga Khan incl Arcangues, Agathe, Aquarelliste, Artiste Royal, Annenkov, Alamo Bay, Australie, Forgotten Voice, Angara, Actrice, Arlesienne, Galatee, Cape Verdi etc.

Note – The only other foal produced by Zou Sensations dam Dame Claire is the rising 3yo filly Zouclaire by Zousain making her a ¾ sister to Zou Sensation. Zouclaire was a very smart 2nd on debut in the Magic Millions 2yo at Caulfield in November before an unlucky unplaced effort in a Magic Millions 2yo Qualifier in January. The promising filly has been transferred to Ciaron Maher.

Congratulations to all owners in Zou Sensation and a big thankyou to the Team at Malua Racing.
