A change in environment saw Bennett Racing 6yo Zoupurring return to form and win 1st up for his new stable at Morphettville over 1200m on Saturday. Having last raced on the 14th March this year the gelding has really thrived since heading over to join the Stokes Stables in Adelaide.
Jockey Jacob Opperman jumped him out cleanly from the barriers and took up a trail behind the leaders. Always seeming to be travelling, Jacob was locked behind the leaders turning for home. He switched back to the inside and Zoupurring burst through along the rails to claim a terrific win for his owners.
Switching trainers/states with horses has seen Zoupurring join a list of successful horses who have made the move to South Australia incl recent metro winners Watadeel, Broadbeach Miss, Beauty Rising, Beauty Bound etc. The win to Zoupurring overall career: 23 starts, 5 – 3 – 4 $185,315 and the now a dual metropolitan winner.
Zoupurring was purchased at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale
from Rosemont Stud for 100k. He is a son of Champion sire Zoustar and from the Flying Spur mare Tara’s Spur. Interesting Zoupurring is bred on the exact same cross as The Astrologist.
Congratulations to all owners in Zourpurring and a big thankyou to Phillip Stokes Racing for the great job done with Zoupurring winning 1st up.
