ABOUT ZOUSTAR X WILD RAIN C ‘24
AN ATHLETIC STUNNING COLT OOZING CLASS
2024/25 Australian Champion Sire ZOUSTAR’S sons are prized commodities especially if they have the pedigree power of SPEED behind them.
This colt has it all – a champion sire as his sire and a multiple Group winner for his dam ! Full brother to a current STAKESHORSE
Every muscle ripples as he powers across the ground with such swagger and he just commands attention with that muscular physique supported by good strong bone and well made limbs.
What a speedy family too. From a current family that incl 6 stakes 2yo’s on the page and one of the all time GREATS of Australian Turf in NORTHERLY.
Speed influences right throughout the pedigree – house hold names like Rory’s Jester, Redoutes Choice, Fappiano and of course his own great sire Zoustar.
This colt has it all, what we look for and what we want in a ZOUSTAR – that hip, that shoulder, that hind leg and of course that swagger. Remember THE ASTROLOGIST, ZOU DANCER, ZASZOU and the mighty ZOU SENSATION they are all ZOUSTARS and they all raced in the ORANGE AND BLACK !

LINE BRED TO BLUE HEN MARE SHANTHAS CHOICE
Shantha’s Choice was a tail-female descendant of Best in Show, the 1982 US Broodmare of the Year described as one of the most important thoroughbreds of the past half-century. The role of Shantha’s Choice as a key link between her illustrious great-granddam and the family’s success in the next half-century is already assured.
She was very well bred being by Gr1 Golden Slipper winner Canny Lad from the American mare Dancing Show who was by the Great Nijinsky. She was a ½ sister to two Gr1 winning colts the half-brothers Umatilla & Hurricane Sky. Both important and successful sires in their own right and speedsters too with bold winning Gr1 races at 2yo.
Her crowning glory at stud would be the Gr1 Blue Diamond winner the legendary three-time Champion Sire, Champion Broodmare Sire, sale-ring sensation and sire of sires Redoute’s Choice, who stood 19 seasons at Arrowfield. Shantha’s Choice went on to deliver another 12 foals in the following 14 years, among them two more Group 1 winners Platinum Scissors (by Danehill) and Manhattan Rain (by Encosta de Lago), Group 3 winner Sliding Cube (by Rock of Gibraltar) and stakeswinner Echoes of Heaven (by Encosta de Lago). Another two foals, Superior Sateen & Monsoon Wedding were stakes performers, while Choice Song was a three-time winner.
Duplications to Shantha’s Choice are regularly seen and very successful.
2ND DAMSIRE GR1 GOLDEN SLIPPER WINNER RORYS JESTER.
The colt has the Great speed sire Rorys Jester as his 2nd damsire and when we think of Rorys Jester we think of Colin Hayes and all those fast fast Rorys Jesters he bred and raced winning stakes races all around Australia from his Lindsay Park base in SA.
Rory’s Jester (Died in 2007) was a very fast racehorse and sired very fast horses. A son of Crown Jester from Rory’s Rocket (GB) by Roan Rocket, he was trained by Colin Hayes. Winner of 1985 STC Golden Slipper Stakes, STC Pago Pago Stakes and the SAJC R.N. Irwin Stakes. He also finished second (to Hula Chief) in the 1986 VRC Lightning Stakes. Predominantly a speed horse, he won races over sprint distances ranging from 1,000m to 1,200m.
Retiring to stud he became Australian Champion First Season Sire with his first crop of precocious and speedy two-year-olds. He was the sire of 73 stakeswinners many bred and trained by Colin Hayes His outstanding progeny included Racer’s Edge, Chortle, Happy Giggle, Isca and Light Up The World etc.
A MAGICAL CROSS – A 20/20 MATCH
A 20/20 Match means that a proposed mating has two or more successful Graded Stakes Winners with over 20 shared ancestors within five generations. The Similarity Score shows how closely each stakes winner matches this mating, giving a strong indicator of success. Only 45% of matings achieve this level, making it a valuable marker.
