Bennett Racing import Tajawal recorded his 2nd win for new trainer Declan Maher with another strong and classy win at the Gold Coast on Saturday over 2000m.
With the big weight of 62.5Kg apprentice Ms Jett Newmans claim reduced the weight to 59.5kg in the BM58 race. Typical of Tajawal he jumped slowly and was slow to muster so Jett had no choice but to let the field go on and settle him in behind a couple of lengths last. Jett got the import into a lovely rhythm and he bopped along under no pressure. Coming down the side she popped him out and started to circle the field 3 & 4 wide and after making the turn for home 5 wide, she seized the opportunity to go for home. Down the straight he was travelling well and a couple of lengths clear and when the race was in his keeping she just rode him to the line to win well.
Tajawal has certainly adapted to Qld racing and Declan Maher and the Team certainly have him in a good place at the moment. He is working through his grades well and as his Eagle farm placings show he is capable of mixing it at metro level as well.
The win also took Tajawal’s overall record to 24 starts -4:3:6 Prizemoney: $117,786
By undefeated Champion racehorse and Champion Sire Frankel, Tajawal was a120k gns purchase from the 2023 Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale. He is a son of the Gr3 placed Street Cry mare Feedyah from the family of Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente.
Congratulations to all owners in Tajawal and thankyou to Declan Maher, Tylah Richardson and their Team for delivering another great win with Tajawal.
