Great strong win for Bennett 5yo mare Steel Impact at Gatton on Sunday. The mare was 2nd up after a solid effort at the Gold Coast and the slight drop in class, rise in distance to 1600m saw the Steel Impact come from well back to score.
Senior jock Danny Peisley jumped the mare out well but the speed from the outside saw her drift back to near last. Approaching the turn Danny had a lap full of horse but with a lot of traffic ahead of her. Eventually he weaved his way through along the inside and the mare hit the front close to home.
Good strong win by Steel Impact who took her record to 20 starts, 2 – 1 – 4 $56,295.
