What a great horse for his owners Bennett Racing 5yo Chambers Bay has been, notching up his 4th win at Morphettville on Saturday. The Stokes Racing trained gelding was lining up for his ninth run this prep although he had had a few short breaks in between.
And what a prep he has had winning three times, placing twice and twice 4th. Carrying top weight of 60kgs less Ms Taylor Johnstone’s claim, the big boy jumped well and Taylor eased back behind the leader. Always travelling well, Taylor didn’t panic at any time and got him into a really good rhythm. Chambers Bay momentarily was held up in the straight but when the gap appeared he powered through and went on to win by 0.3 Len. It was Chambers Bay 2nd win on heavy ground winning at Gawler on the Heavy 10 after which he ran an average 4th at Morphettville.
A well deserved Metropolitan Saturday win for the 5yo after wins at Pakenham on the synthetic and Gawler twice on a Wednesday.
The win took Chambers Bay’s overall record to 18 starts, 4 -1 – 2 and $95,200 in prizemoney. He was a 22k purchase from the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale from the Valiant Stud draft. He comes from a wonderful old Woodlands Family and is a ½ brother to the Group 1 winner Platelet.
Congratulations to all owners in Chambers Bay and a big thankyou to Tommy Stokes and his Adelaide Team for the terrific job they have done managing the 5yo’s preparations which has resulted in 3 wins.
