More stakes success for Bennett Racing with English import Fawkner Park (IRE) easily winning Friday’s Listed Albury Gold Cup and in doing so became Bennett Racings 15th stakes horse from 67 runners!.

The 5yo son of Zoffany simply toyed with his rivals, putting them to the sword in the straight winning easing down by 1.17Len. Jockey Tyler Schiller was content to let the gelding settle in the back half after jumping well. Always in a good rhythm throughout, Tyler made his move turning for home as he steadied the import around the turn before unleashing a withering finish and easing down near the line.

A terrific training effort by Annabel Neasham and her Team after am out of character run in the Australian Cup Prelude 13 days ago. At Flemington the import didn’t seem to handle the Melbourne way of going and after giving away a huge start throughout the race, he hung in all the way down the straight. The Team picked out the Albury Cup for Fawkner Park to contest on the way back to NSW but those plans may be on hold after such a brilliant display.

It was Fawkner Park’s 14th start (11th in Australia) and he took his record to 6 wins 1x 2nd 1 x 3rd and earnings of $388,002. He was a 120k gns purchase from the 2022 Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale by Bennett Racing & Stuart Boman. The gelding had just 4 starts in Ireland for Aiden O’Brien and had broken his maiden on the polytrack at Dundalk at his last start. By successful Coolmore sire Zoffany who had success here with stakeswinner Hi Stranger from limited Australian crops, Zoffany has also sired the good European stakeswinners here in Camorra, Carzoff, Al Galayel and Ventura Storm. Fawkner Park is a 1/2 brother to the Gr2 Herbert Power Hcp winner Saracen Knight and his dam is a sister to Gr1 winner Debussy and Gr2 winner Laugh Aloud.

Congratulations to all owners in Fawkner Park and thankyou to Annabel Neasham and her Team .
