Bennett Racing 4yo mare Madame Meteor notched up her 2nd win in 9 starts when a very impressive winner at Albury 29/7. The daughter of Champion sire Zoustar had been luckless in previous runs this campaign but signalled a win wasn’t far away with her last start 4th. Jake Duffy rode the mare and positioned her well just off the pace. She always looked comfortable and Jake had her off and running around the Albury home turn. In the straight when she let down, Madame Meteor put the others to the sword quickly and dashed away, winning by 4.12Len at the finish.

A welcome return to the winners list Madame Meteor had lost her way a little since breaking her maiden at her 4th start but now looks to have regained that confidence with such a commanding win. Madame Meteor took her overall record to 9 starts, 2 – 0 – 0 $35,025.

A 90k purchase from the 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the Rothwell Park Draft, Madame Meteor is a daughter of Champion Sire Zoustar and from the imported Mineshaft mare My Dinah Lee (USA). Listed placed at 3, My Dinah Lee (USA) is from the winning mare Dinah Lee a daughter of Champion sire Dynaformer and a full sister to the Group 2 ( now Group 1 ) winner Fortuitous. This is a strong lower American Family with Madame Meteor being a direct descendant of Blue Hen mare Lassie Dear. Lassie Dear’s descendants include Champion Racehorse and Sire AP Indy – Horse Of The Year, Group 1 Preekness winner Summer Squall, Group 1 Belmont Stks winner Lemon Drop Kid.

Congratulations to all owners in Madame Meteor and thankyou to Leon & Troy Corstens for a terrific effort getting Madam Meteor back into the winners circle.
