Smart Bennett Racing 5yo Baraqiel remained unbeaten after 3 starts after his demolition job at Swan Hill on the 7th of June. The 5yo’s history is well documented, making his winning debut at Sale on 5th May followed by a hollow Pakenham 23rd May. Staying at the 1200m and stepping up to BM 78 grade, Baraqiel never gave his backers any cause for concern. The big boy jumped well, sat up outside the leader and looked great throughout. Taking over on straightening he simply careered away, giving Ben Allen another armchair ride. For such a big boy Baraqiel glides over the ground with such ease and handles his big stride without effort. This rising 6yo gelding certainly looks the REAL DEAL. His turn of foot is electric and he has the size and the power to just progress to Metropolitan grade and possibly stakes grade.

Such a well bred son of Champion Sire Snitzel, Baraqiel is showing enormous talent in his delayed career and is being taken through his grades very well by the Team at Malua. Before the win at Swan Hill he was a rating 68 and now has a rating of 74. The win took the unbeaten Baraqiel’s overall record to 3 starts -3 wins Prizemoney: $70,125.

Baraqiel was a 150k purchase from the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from his breeders the famous Arrowfield Stud. He is a ¾ brother to this years Gr1 AJC Oaks winner Autumn Angel. Certainly bred in the purple. Congratulations to all owners in Baraqiel and thankyou to Leon & Troy Corstens and their Teams for all the hard work and patience they have taken with Baraqiel.
