At only his 3 rd start smart Zoustar colt Zou Sensation stepped up to the mark on Saturday at
Flemington with a fantastic 3 rd in the Listed Posiden Stks. The colt first up, was coming off some very
nice trials recently and after a freshen up from his first campaign. The colt showed real brilliance
winning easily on debut in Adelaide on the 18 June before a 3 rd behind Thom Bone at Flemington in
July. The colt was sent to Leneva Park for a short freshen and water work.
A big colt full of quality and uncannily simular to The Astrologist, Zou Sensation looks to have taken
the next step in his break and has returned a beast.
Craig Williams was certainly impressed with his trials and committed to ride the colt on Saturday in
what was a very strong race full of spruiked high priced colts. Throughout the run Craig had the colt
behind the leader but was left in front a little early when the leader folded under pressure. Zou
Sensation grabbed the lead but was run down, also suffering a little interference, near the line as his
condition gave out.
The cot will take great benefit from the run and may be aimed at the Gr3 Danehill Stks with a possible tilt at the Gr1 Coolmore Stks .
Zou Sensation is the 3 rd stakes horse purchased by Bennett Racing by Zoustar following Gr3 winner &
multiple Gr1 placed The Astrologist and Gr3 winner Zou Dancer. A 150k Magic Millions purchase
from the Widden Draft, Zou Sensation is a son of the dual Listed winning Danehill Dancer mare
Dame Claire. Dame Claire was a winner from 1400m to 3200m and included the Listed Andrew
Ramsden Stks (3200m) & the Listed Reginald Ansett Stks (1400m) amoungst her wins. The best of 3
winners for his dam, Zou Sensation is a ½ brother to the Yarra Valley Cup winner MacLairey (220k in
prizemoney) and closely related to the stakesplaced smart stayer Horrifying ( 480k in prizemoney).
This is the family of Gr1 English The Thousand Guineas winner Cape Verdi.
This colt is a real professional and nothing seems to fluster him, even on Saturday whilst the other
colts were up and about, Zou Sensation just ambled around the mounting yard. Obviously blessed
with very good ability, his attitude will take him a long way!
We feel his owners may be in for a very good ride with this colt.
