After a series of placings, Bennett Racing 4yo Blazerro finally delivered a metropolitan win at Morphettville on Saturday. Since resuming the Pierro gelding has been a model of consistency and was coming off 4 consecutive metro placings in Adelaide. Big weights or bad barriers had thwarted Blazerro but on Saturday he had drawn well and was down in weight, although up in class.
Jumping well, Blazerro was driven forward by Kayla Crowther and was soon leading. Kayla then elected to steady the gelding and allow him to be crossed infront. She had Blazerro in a good rhythm and pushed the button before the turn, unleashing a powerful sprint in the run to the line. Although he rolled in a little in the straight, he careered away wining by over 2 Len leaving his last start conqueror in his wake.
It was somewhat of a relief for both Tommy Stokes and Kayla Crowther as they had insisted, he was going well although winless and applied a one-eyed blinker for the run.
A great money spinner for his connections the win took Blazerro’s earnings over 184k in 17 starts and took his record to 2 wins 5 2nds & 4 3rds. With 11 top 3 finishes the 4yo has certainly been a model of consistency for Stokes Racing and now he has found winning form again he may go on with it.
A  120K  purchase from Newgate Farms draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Blazerro runs for a big group of loyal Bennett Racing owners and had previously given them all the thrill of a close 2nd in the Gr2 Sandown Guineas as a 3yo.
Blazerro became the 15th individual Metropolitan winner for Bennett Racing.
Congratulations to all his owners on his great win and thankyou to Stokes Racing.
