Bennett Racing’s 4yo Written Tycoon mare Cheval Chic finally showed her true ability when putting away a good field at Werribee last Sunday at her 5th start. Placed on debut then again at her 2nd start, the wheels seemed to fall off thereafter. Always showing ability from the bounce Cheval Chic had become quite a nervous type often sweating up before her races. Her trials had been okay this time in and the mare had certainly built up and matured.

Resuming over 1100m at Werribee the mare did get a little uptight beforehand but as the day wasn’t too hot she didn’t freely sweat as she can do.

Cheval Chic was a little slow away and Liam Riordan settled her at the back of the field. Liam made his move towards the turn pushing to the outside. He balanced her up, quickly joined in and exploded away to demolish this field by 5 lens. She simply dominated the field winning running away.

Such a great result for her owners and Danny O’Brien and his Team at Barwon Heads. A lot of work has gone into this mare and Danny felt there was bigger and brighter things ahead for her. Cheval Chic took her record to 5 starts, 1 – 2 – 0 $41,325 in prizemoney.
