Bennett Racings 3yo Magnus colt Magnaspin endured a wide run throughout but
prevailed in a close finish at Geelong. The colt, having his 2 nd run back and 6 th
lifetime start, jumped well but was forced to race 3 wide most of the journey. John
Allen kept the colt in good rhythm and took over on straightening dashing away. The
early trip seemed to take its toll but he found the line winning by a head. John always
thought he had enough in hand to win the race and didn’t knock the colt around.
Magnaspin has been a wonderful horse for his connections placing in 3 of his 4
starts as a 2yo including a very good 3 rd in the Listed Gibson Carmichael Stks in July.
The colt resumed at Bendigo and probably lacked match fitness running 2 nd behind a
highly touted horse.
A ¾ brother to the 600k earner Magnapal the colt was purchased from the Maluka
Draft at Inglis Melbourne Premier, Magnaspin took his earnings to an impressive
$120,800 and earned $35,400 in VOBIS bonuses. Yesterdays race also included a
VOBIS Sires Boost of $30,000 in vouchers for qualified horses.
