What an impressive way to break your maiden. Bennett Racing 3yo colt Zoupurring dictated his 1400m race at Sandown winning by nearly 2Len in good time. The son of Zoustar was coming of an equally impressive debut performance when 2nd at Pakenham last month. In that race he was slow away but reeled in some great sectionals in the run home. At Sandown leading jockey Jye McNeil got Zoupurring out of the gate well and opted to take up the lead. Although pressured from the 900m mark and shaded on the turn, Zoupurring got down to his business and powered away for an easy win with the promise of more to come. Jye who has always held the colt in high stead felt that the colt had taken great improvement from his debut run and was keen to stay on him after his impressive win.

Trained at Malua Racing Geelong base Zoupurring has always shown Leon good ability and as with many of Leon trained horse’s he has given Zoupurring plenty of time to grow and develop. The colt had been in and out of the stables a few times but had trialled very well each time.

The colt when purchased as a yearling was a late foal (foaled 20th November) but had the frame to fill in to and was always a great mover.

Zoupurring was a 100k Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale purchase from the Rosemont Farm Draft. He is from the good producing Flying Spur mare Tara’s Spur and bred on the same cross as Bennett Racing favourite The Astrologist. Zoupurring is also the 5th Zoustar sired winner for Bennett Racing behind the aforementioned 2mil earner The Astrologist, Gr3 winner Zou Dancer, Listed pl metro winner Zou Sensation, metro pl winner Dayan Star.

Congratulations to all Zoupurring’s owners who look to have a very nice colt on their hands and thankyou to Leon & Troy Corstens and their Team for all the time and patience that have put into the colt.
