Bennett Racing 4yo Prinzerro returned to winning form after unleashing a paralysing finishing burst at Pakenham on Friday night. Running for the first time on the synthetic surface, the consistent gelding was fav in the Rich Synthetic Sprinters Final worth 50k with bonuses totalling another 50k.
The very consistent son of Pierro has always shown above average ability running 2nd on debut at Sandown followed by a close 3rd at Moonee Valley. The then colt just missed when 0.5 Len behind furture Group horse Scentify again at Moonee Valley before winning easily at Sandown.
Two below par performances at Group company saw the ultimate gear change and the colt was gelded. A good spell saw the now gelding resume 8/6 with a fantastic close 3rd behind future stakeswinner Right To Party down the straight at Flemington which was followed by a another impressive performance down the Flemington straight when 2nd to the flying The Black Cloud.
Lining up behind the very exciting hot fav Right To Party in the Listed Creswick Stks down the straight at Flemington, Prinzerro burst to the front only to be nabbed near the line by the flying filly. In running 2nd, Prinzerro notched up his 1st well deserved stakes placing.
After two inconclusive runs as fav at Caulfield, together with another two average runs as a 3yo there, the Team decided perhaps Caulfield didn’t suit him.
The Team identified the rich Syn Sprinters final as a target to get the gelding some confidence back into winning form.
On Friday night the field contained unite a few speedsters so after jumping well Daniel Stackhouse elected to stay out of the speed battle and allowed Prinzerro to drift back near last. The gelding travelled well though and Daniel gradually moved Prinzerro closer into the race. In the straight the front runners started to compound due to the speed throughout and this is when Daniel unleashed a powerful burst which saw Prinzerro quickly race up and look ready to run away with the final.But after a short tussle when the leader fought back, Prinzerro held a head margin to the line. Although the margin wasn’t great Prinzerro added another string to his bow when fighting the race right out to the line.
A 160k purchase from the Yulong Draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Sale, Prinzerro is a son of Champion racehorse and sire Pierro from the very fast metropolitan winning Exceed And Excel mare Dongxing Princess. Dongxing Princess is a 1/2 sister to Group 2 winner Samara Dancer, Group 3 winner Eclair Big Bang and Group 3 placed Defiant Dancer who were all trained by Phillip Stokes. She is also a 1/2 sister to stakesplaced Black Sail and Dancers Kin.

The win took Prinzerro’s overall record to 12 starts 2 wins 4 x 2nds  2 x 3rds and nearly 260k prize money.
