Bennett Racings 4yo Star Rotation showed great determination to swoop down the outside and get up to win at Warnambool on Thursday. The grey son of Zoustar put in a great effort at his last start when 1st up at Warracknabeal again flashing down the outside to grab 3rd and had shown he had taken great improvement from that run.
Thomas Stockdale took the reins and although he jumped well, Star Rotation drifted back into the second half of the field with Thomas settling him one out 3 pairs back. Coming to the 500m mark Thomas brought him out into the 3 wide lane and commenced his run. Masking the turn home 6 wide and 5 lens off them, Thomas set the grey alight down the outside. Star Rotation pinned his ears back to get up on the line winning by a head with over 3 Len back to the 3rd horse.
This was a really good, tough, strong win indicating that he may get further judging by how strong he was on the line.
As a youngster Star Rotation had suffered from sinus troubles which eventually led to having his skull opened up and he still carries the scars from the operation. He also suffered from soft bone immaturity which delayed him getting to the races but Ciaron always felt he would come good and told the owners to have the faith he would. All his patient owners were rewarded today with such a terrific win by the horse at only his 3rd start.
The win took Star Rotations overall record to 3 starts 1-0-1 earning of $26,895.
