Bennett Racing 4yo Sign From Above finally delivered on all the promise he had shown with a resounding victory at Ballarat on Sunday. Previously 2nd in 3 of his 4 starts, Sign From Above started a very short $1.95 fav over the 1200m journey. He was 2nd up after a good run at Caulfield where he got too far back and looked absolutely fantastic on the day with plans to roll forward. Billy Egan quickly had Sign From Above outside the leader and travelling. He took over on turning for home and skipped right away. Challengers appeared from the pack but Sign From Above was travelling sweetly and went on to bolt in by an untroubled and impressive 3 lens. Race time was very quick for this grade. The boy was really explosive on Sunday and kept sustained speed up throughout the race.

This was a really dominant win by Sign From Above in what was a competitive field. Yet to race beyond 1200m the ease of this win suggests that anything in the right grade from 1200-1400m should be right up his alley. A lightly raced 4 year old gelding, Sign From Above improves his record to 5 starts for 1 win and 3 X 2nds and earnings of $34,855 with the promise of more to come. It was a great reward for Sign From Above’s loyal owners as the gelding has suffered from immaturity throughout his career but again shows the value of patience with these horses.

Sign From Above was a 100k purchase from the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. He was from the draft of Miranda Park, Hesket. The then colt was sent back to Miranda Parks beautiful property at Hesket where he grew out with Bennett Racing’s other Melbourne Premier purchases that year which included multiple metro winner Watadeel and Magnaspin, winner of the 500k The Hunter the day before. Sign from above is a son of Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet and is a ½ brther to 2yo Listed winner Destruction.

Congratulations to all owners and special thankyou to Malua Racing Leon & Troy Corstens and their Team.

Incidentally Sign From Above was the third easy Maiden winner for Bennett Racing in the last 8 days, his win took the tally to 7 winners from the last 8 runners in the last 9 days – a staggering win% of 87.5% winners to starters in that time.
