Well bred Bennett Racing 3yo filly Snitzanova put her hand up for a possible run in next months Gr1 Thousand Guineas when she was an impressive winner at Kensington/Randwick on Wednesday. The Snitzel filly had made a promising debut at Rosehill 2/10 when closing well from behind and went into Wednesday’s 100k Super Maiden ideally suited by the 1400m.

Zac Lloyd jumped the filly out of the barriers well but she drifted back and eventually settled 3rd last but travelling well. Zac began to improve on the filly coming to the turn and on straightening he balanced Snitzanova up and she worked through her gears to threaten before launching strongly late and running over the top of the leader to score nicely in good time. The filly made up a tremendous amount of ground to score and was in fact running away at the line. Snitzanova could well possibly head towards the Gr1 Thousand Guineas next time out which would be a suitable target.

Full credit to Declan Maher and his Team at Ballarat who took their time with the then 2yo filly when she joined the powerful Ciaron Maher Stable. The filly had quite a few short preps then breaks in the paddock followed by muscle building work at CRC Equine. As the filly developed and started to show good ability, Declan worked on a plan to give the filly another break with aim to send her off to Ciaron’s NSW Stable specifically to aim at the rich 100k Super maidens available in NSW. When the filly was ready after trialling in Victoria she was shipped up to NSW and that initial plan came to fruition with her win on Wednesday. Snitzanova took her record to 2 starts-1:0:0 Prizemoney: $61,600  plus BOBS Total Bonus: $11,250

A daughter of Champion sire Snitzel and from a deep and very strong Blacktype family, Snitzanova was a 200k purchased from the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from her breeders Arrowfield Stud. Snitzanova is the fourth winner from five to race for the royally-bred Galileo mare Albanilla (GB), whose dam Altitude (Green Desert) is a half-sister to triple Group 1 winner Alborada, and dual Group 1 winner Alkbanova, the granddam of the English and Irish St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov , Group III MRC Coongy Cup winner Kingswood (GB) and Champion European race mare Alpinista winner of Gr1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe etc.  Interesting also is Snitzanova’s 2yo full sister Hiatus, a $350,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, won at Murray Bridge on debut on October 12. Hiatus is the final foal of Albanilla (GB), who died in October 2023.

Congratulations to all owners in Snitzanova and thankyou to the whole Team at Ciaron Maher Racing for having the filly ready to win this rich 100k Super Maiden. A highly promising filly with some lofty Group race goals ahead of her
