A great ride by Hannah Edgeley saw Bennett racing 6yo Apache Star bring up win number 6 at Morphettville on Saturday.
Stepping out to the 1600m after a great 2nd over 1400m at Morphettville at his last start, Apache jumped well and was soon sent to the front by Hannah. The 3kg claim was made to good use with Hannah setting a good pace and she had Apache in a good rhythm throughout. Racing down the side the gelding was flying and relatively unchallenged and was Hannah released the brakes it was all over as he powered to the line winning by 1.7 Len. It was Apache’s 3 metro win in Adelaide and he certainly has shown a great liking for the Morphettville track with each of those Metropolitan wins recorded there. He really is a joy to watch humming along in front with those big white socks sailing along and his baldy white face charging to the post.
Apache Star’s career looked in doubt in the middle of the year but full credit to Phillip & Tommy Stokes and their Team to get the horse back and firing and now recoding his 6th win. Apache took his overall record to 27 starts, 6 – 2 – 3 $153,880.
The flashy Star Witness gelding was a 67.5k purchase from the 2019 Adelaide Magic Million Draft and is a ½ brother to Bennett Racing 3yo metro winner Beauty Rising (Deep Field). Apache Star is one of 6 winners for the imported Galileo mare Coral Reef who has Gr1 English Oaks winner Knight’s Baroness as her granddam. Another of Apache’s siblings and a full sister to Beauty Rising in Ningaloo Star recently brought up her 2nd metro win at Randwick taking her earning well past the 200k mark. Bennett Racing invested back into the family purchasing the very promising Cosmic Force (Deep Field) colt Stay Focused from this year’s Magic Million Sale for 250k. The colt has had one trial for a very effortless win.
Congratulations to all owner’s in Apache and thankyou to Phillip & Tommy Stokes and their Team on another great win by Apache.
