It’s with great pleasure we announce that Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing have joined the Bennett Racing Stable. There are very few people in this industry that have done more or hold a higher profile in racing than Gai. Hugely successful and a persona larger than life, Gai is passionate about racing and passionate about giving her owners the best experience possible.

The story of Tulloch Lodge began in 1941 when TJ Smith, Gai’s father, received his training licence. During the next fifty years, Tulloch Lodge produced some of the best horses ever to run in Australia, including the legendary Kingston Town and Tulloch. TJ became the most successful trainer of Group 1 winners in Australia, training a record 282 winners at the highest level, and receiving 33 consecutive trainers’ premierships. In 1992, TJ handed the reins to his daughter Gai, who has become a racing sensation in her own right and has steered Tulloch Lodge to new heights in the 21st century. Following in her father’s footsteps, Gai Waterhouse AO has trained 150 Group 1 winners, including seven Golden Slippers.

Gai, who has an association with the Bott family going back several decades, only needed Adrian on her work force for two and a half years to realize his potential. To be acceded such a rare privilege, especially for someone so young, is a tribute to his thorough grounding in the horse industry. This began with his father Tony at the famed Segenhoe Stud. After a diversion to university, his journey continued through a year on the Racing New South Wales stewards’ panel to a Darley Flying Start scholarship and then to Tulloch Lodge.

Gai & Adrian have been in partnership since 2016. They have been a dominating force in the Australian thoroughbred industry ever since. To date, Gai & Adrian have collectively trained 16 Group 1 winners. Stars for the stable include Multiple Gr1 winner ALIGATOR BLOOD, Gr1 Golden Slipper winners VANCOUVER & FARNAM, ZOUSTAR fillies Gr2 winner NORTH STAR LASS & PLATINUM LASS, GR1 Thousand Guineas winner GLOBAL GLAMOUR, Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner FIORENTE etc.
