Bennett Racing regally bred 4yo mare Elation and Joy lining up for her 5th career start was far too strong at the end winning her maiden at Hamilton on Thursday.
The 4yo looked well placed in this Mile Maiden over 1600m. The distance and give in the track certainly looked in her favour. She jumped well and took the spot on the leaders back. They went along at a steady speed and stayed in order until down the hill to the turn. Elation and Joy struggled to negotiate the downhill run coming to the home turn, was off the bit and looked gone on turning. With 250m to go, Eoin Walsh really picked the daughter of Zoustar up, courageously she dug in and was soon running past the two in front before drawing away. The race time was 1m 40.42s which was 4.86 lens better than standard.
Fantastic win by this very well bred mare. She looked gone for all money down the hill but picked up and battled very strongly in the straight to gain the day. Elation And Joy has been taken along very slowly and been given a lot of time to grow and develop with regular stints in work at either Ciaron’s facilities or CRC Equine.
In breaking her maiden Elation And Joys overall record now stands at 5 starts, 1 – 1 – 0 $22,005 with the promise of more to come. She definitely shows an affinity for tracks with the jar out of them with her two best runs.
The success that Bennett Racing have had with Champion sire Zoustars progeny has continued with Elation And Joy success. In all the Team have had 11 runners by the Widden Stud flagbearer and Elation And Joy is now the 10th individual winner.
Elation And Joy was purchased from the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from her breeders Widden Stud for $160,000. She is a daughter of Champion sire Zoustar from the Gr3 winning mare Rosa’s Joy. Coming from a deep big selling family, Elation And Joy is a ½ sister to the very smart racemare Members Joy who herself is the dam of Gr2 Percy Sykes winning filly Pure Elation ( dam of Listed winner Hip Hip Hurrah). Elation And Joys 2nd dam is the Gr3 Merson Cooper winner Rosa’s Joy dam of the aforementioned stakeswinner Rosa’s Spur and the stakeswinning 2yo Rosarino who is the dam of the Listed winning and Gr1 Newmarket Hcp placed Indian Pacific (by Zoustar).
Congratulations to all owners in Elation And Joy who have been patient with this 4yo mare and a big thankyou to Ciaron Maher and all his Teams for the fantastic job they have done with her.
