3yo Foxwedge Filly LA CROFT, made her debut on Boxing Day at Morphettville. Sent out $2.50 favourite, on the strength of a nice trial, she led for all bar the last 10 meters in the 1200m Maiden.
A little slow into stride, she was driven through to lead from barrier 1 by jockey Paul Gatt. This seemed to ‘fire her up’ and she then over raced for the majority of the race. Tackled and headed by stablemate Our Deep Agenda on straightening, she fought back like a lion to again find the lead. Fellow debutante Fortune Follows, peeled off her back and stormed late just nabbing La Croft on the line.
Terrific effort by the filly considering the extra work she did and her tenacity to fight back.
Great effort to get this filly racing and in such good heart after all the start/stops we’ve had with her. Beautifully bred filly with Metro placing alongside her name and a bright future.
Well done to the McEvoy Team on their efforts to get this talented daughter of Foxwedge up and going. Onwards and upwards.
