Bennett Racing import Tajawal recorded his 1st win for new trainer Declan Maher with a strong and classy win at Ipswich on Wednesday. Off the back off a very good 1st up run at Eagle Farm and a solid effort at the Sunshine Coast, Tajawal started a well backed $2.30 fav in the (Class 2) 2150m event with Ryan Maloney again taking the reins and after jumping well, Ryan got the import over from the wide barrier into the one out three back line.
Always travelling sweetly, Ryan set him alight down the side gaining momentum before reaching the front on straightening for home. The import exerted his authority, drawing away to an easy 1.5 Len win.
Ryan Maloney was pleased with the imports effort and felt there were more wins to come if he was placed to advantage and the win vindicated his decision to stay riding the horse.
The win was Tajawal’s 2nd win in Australia and 1st win for new trainer Declan Maher at the Gold Coast. Tajawal was transferred to Declan to take advantage of the very good class system in Qld and with the NSW boarder less than an hour away Declan can also access similar class races there.
The win also vindicated Bennett Racings decision to send a lot more of their horses north for an environment change after Lexy Rose broke throughout Eagle Farm whilst under Declans care in October.
The win also took Tajawals overall record to 20 starts -3:3:5 Prizemoney: $97,026
By undefeated Champion racehorse and Champion Sire Frankel, Tajawal was a120k gns purchase from the 2023 Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale. He is a son of the Gr3 placed Street Cry mare Feedyah from the family of Gr1 Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente.
Congratulations to all owners in Tajawal and thankyou to Declan Maher, Tylah Richardson for getting Tajawal’s back into the winners stall.
