Smart Dissident mare Defiant Diva perhaps gave a glimpse of what may come with a strong win at Sandown. The 4yo mare having only her 8th start, relished going out to the mile for the first time to record her 2nd win. Jumping well from barrier 6 John Allen placed the mare a lot closer in the run one out two back and set her alight rounding for home. The mare picked them up at the 300m mark and although the 2nd horse issued a challenge Defiant Diva always had it covered winning by 0.75L and a further 4.75L back to 3rd.
It’s been a patient journey for the owners of the mare who has now won 2 and placed 4 times in only 8 starts earning just shy of 64k. Trained out of Malua’s Geelong stable’s under Leon Corsten’s eye the mare has been given plenty of time to develop and her consistentcy is rewarding her owners now.

The ability always shown by Defiant Diva prompted us to purchase her Nicconi ½ sister Colorado Cruise at this year’s Magic Millions Adelaide sale. Being from a daughter of staying influence sire Pentire, Defiant Diva could now be tested over longer journey’s than yesterday’s win.
