After an aborted Wellington Cup mission last week Bennett Racing import
Sibaaq (GB) showed enormous promise for the future easily winning the
100k Wellington Cup at Dubbo on Friday. Last week the 4yo gelding
travelled over a 4hr return trip to Wellington only to have the races
called off. With the Cup rescheduled to Dubbo Annabelle decided to make
the long journey again with the horse in quest for the 2mil The Dance
Qualification for winning. Having not started since his Australian debut
over a month ago when 2nd at the Gold Coast Sibaaq had been kept up to
the mark with some great gallops at Eagle Farm.

Tommy Berry again made
the trip to ride the gelding and after jumping well Tommy rode him
forward to sit 3rd most of the way behind the tear away leader. Taking
over on straightening Sibaaq left no doubt and skipped away to win by 1
1/2 Len and of course gaining that entry into 2mil The Big Dance.

Incidentally Sibaaq was immediately made fav for the race on Melbourne
Cup Day. It really was a great training effort by Annabelle Neasham and
her team to have the gelding ready after being thwarted by so many wet
tracks over the last month. A 70k Guineas purchase from the Tattersalls
Horses In Training Sale last October with the help from English based
agent Stuart Boman, Sibaaq is the 2nd of 2 imports for Bennett Racing
but the first to race here and took his record to 15 starts for 5 wins 4
x 2nds 3 x 3rds 122k in prize money. Congratulations to all owners who
had the faith in investing in Sibaaq he looks a highly promising horse
for the future.
