Bennett Racing’s daughter of Zoustar Sunday Georgie was a strong winner on debut at Werribee last Sunday. Under jockey Theo Nuggent she was considered a sound top 3 chance in the 1429mMaiden and it was expected that the tempo would suit her. She duly jumped welland found herself on speed 3rd behind the leader. To the 800m they really opened up the field and they were going quite solidly. Sunday Georgie travelled well and was right there to challenge to the turn. The leader kicked around the bend and put 2 lengths on Sunday Georgie momentarily looked the winner but Sunday Georgie continued to chase getting up in the last 3 strides did she get to the leader and grab him on the line to record a very tenacious win on debut.
What a great performance by this daughter of Zoustar to win on debut. She had to absorb pressure early to be on speed and then to pick up, chase and then nail the leader to win was testimony to both her courage and ability.
Sunday Georgie was a 60k buy from the2023 Inglis Classic Sale from great vendors Newgate farm. Her dam Aaralyn is a winning daughter of Champion racehorse Choisir and a ¾ sister to International Gr1 winner and top sire Starspangledbanner. Aaralyn is also a ½ sister to theGr1 1000 Guineas winner Amicus and Listed winner Cheer Leader. A wonderfully bred filly, Sunday Georgie is from the family of Champions Haradasun, Elvstrom etc.
Congratulations to all owners in Sunday Georgie with her terrific debut win and thankyou to Ciaron Maher and all his Teams for having the filly ready to win.
