Bennett Racing 6yo Watadeel has benefited from being relocated to Phillip Stokes Adelaide Stable and that shift bore fruit again when the gelding ran away with the Spring Carnival Hcp at Morphettville on Saturday. The late riding change to Rochelle Milnes made no difference as he jumped well and sat one out one back throughout. Rochelle took Watadeel out before the turn and on straightening he was travelling well before taking over in the run home, winning easily. It was the son of Dundeel 6th run this prep, winning twice and placing twice incl his good last start 3rd in the Listed Balaklava Cup.The Listed Murray Bridge Gold Cup in a couple of weeks will be his next target.

The win took Watadeel’s overall career to 30 starts 6-3-3 and over 380k in prizemoney and now it looks like the 6yo has a new lease on life and certainly enjoying life in South Australia. Watadeel was a 115k purchase from the 2021 Melbourne Premier Sale and is a son of terrific sire Dundeel and the Encosta De Lago mare Water Kiss. Bred by Segenhoe Stud he was offered by Stonehouse Tbs.

Congratulations to all owners and a big thankyou to Phillip Stokes and his Teams.
