ZOUPURRING GETS THE LUCK AND RACES AWAY HIS SECOND WIN & BRINGS UP BENNETT RACING’S 100TH WIN

A well judged ride by Jye McNeil saw Bennett Racing 4yo Zoupurring win his 2nd race at Cranbourne. The Zoustar gelding has had a frustrating run of bad luck since breaking his maiden at Sandown back in March ’23. Gelded after a few runs this preparation, Zoupurring had struggled with a bit of consistency although not entirely his fault. A victim of getting too far back or being trapped behind all those unlucky runs where forgotten as Jye gave him a perfect sit behind the leader and burst through a gap on straightening. For a couple of strides it did look like Zoupurring may come up short but when Jye got to work on the gelding he reeled in the leader and won going away.
Zoupurring had always shown some very nice ability but as mention he may not have been genuine as a colt and very unlucky as gelding.
The Cranbourne run followed an inglorious effort on face value at Stawell. On that occasion the horse had absolutely no luck and was eased down in the run home. The true Zoupurring stood up tonight and Jye McNiel made sure of it. The win took Zoupurring’s overall record to 10 starts -2wins :2 2nds :2 3rds with prizemoney of $88,715.
Zoupurring was a 100k purchase from the Rosemont Draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. He is the best of 5 winners for his dam the Flying Spur mare Tara’s Spur. Bred on the exact same Zoustar x Flying Spur as The Astrologist Zoupurring is a horse with very good ability and may now go on with the job.
