WOW this horse is going places!
Bennett Racing’s 4yo import Fawkner Park stepped up to a BM78 over 2000m at Rosehill on Saturday, and passed the test with flying colors! Coming off two impressive but quite different wins at Kembla Grange & Doomben, the Zoffany gelding showed more armory in his mettle on Saturday.
On a leaders track, Fawkner Park jumped well and found the spot behind the leader. He got into a good rhythm early off the slow tempo. The speed came into the ace at the 800m mark and Into the straight Fawkner Park was bolting behind the first 2 and looking for a run. Held up for a run early into the straight it took to the 200m mark for the run to come, and when Chad Schofield drove Fawkner Park through and in 2 strides it was all over. Displaying an electric turn of foot, Fawkner Park through, he exploded to the lead and won running away. Such a turn of foot the gelding showed after the line he was well clear!
The early lack of speed in the race meant that although the overall time was ok the last 600m was in fact the 2nd quickest of the day only behind the 1100m Sprint. This is quite exceptional for a 2000m race.
This was a huge step forward for Fawner Park who is now 3 from 3 in Australia and took his overall earnings to over $130k of which over 116k has come from his 3 starts here. His overall record now stands as 6 starts for 4 wins and a 3rd.
He has taken huge steps in each of his Australian runs and has got better with each run. He settled more forward this time and his turn of foot late was terrific. Annabel and her Team have placed this horse beautifully and his rating has now gone to 81.
A special thankyou to Stuart Boman , Bennett Racing’s International agent, who identified the horse at last year’s Tattersalls Horses In Training Sale.
Clearly a talented young horse with such a bright future ahead of him and giving his connections such a thrill as his career takes off.
