Bennett Racing 3yo gelding Hard Warrior belied his debut run with great win at Terang on Tuesday. The All Too Hard gelding made his debut on 17th February with a lacklustre effort after being very slow from the barriers and eventually finishing a well beaten 5.2Len 7th.
With blinkers applied at Terang the gelding was still slow out of the barriers and again settled towards the rear. Daniel Moor just seemed to keep him in a good rhythm and still in touch before setting him alight coming to the turn. Widest on straightening, Hard Warrior began his move down the long Terang straight before reaching the lead and easing down eventually winning by a neck.
A terrific training effort by Danny O’Brien and his Team applying the blinkers and switching the gelding on. Hard Warrior took his career to 2 starts, 1 – 0 – 0 $15,525.
Hard Warrior made his debut well into his 3yo year due to an injury sustained during trackwork. The gelding was given plenty of time to get over that injury and was sent to Lee Evison’s property at Longwarry. Lee is a marvel with this type of injuries and all Hard Warrior’s re-hab work was done there. Judging by his impressive win, all that hard work has paid off handsomely.
Hard Warrior was a 65k purchase from the 2022 Magic Millions Sale. The son of All Too was sourced from the Rosari Farm Qld draft. His dam is the winning Charge Forward mare Primaluna a ½ sister to the good sprinter Odyssey Moon winner of the Gr3 Standish Hcp & Gr1 pl in the AJC Sires Produce. He holds a strong International pedigree which includes Gr1 winner Jostle.
Congratulations to all owners in Hard Warrior and a special thanks to Danny O’Brien and his Team.
