Sibaaq (GB) added another 340k to his earnings with an outstanding effort at Rosehill on Saturday,
running Gr1 winner Ellsberg to a head in the 2Mil Five Diamonds. Backing up after his super 3rd
placing in the 2Mil The Big Dance on Tuesday, Sibaaq took his earnings just for this week alone to a
phenomenal 580k! and overall to $922,813 in his record in 20 starts to 5 wins 7 2nds & 4 3rds!
Ridden this time by Dylan Gibbons Sibaaq (GB) broke well and had a good sit behind the eventual
winner Ellsberg. Always comfortable throughout the run, Dylan angled Sibaaq (GB) out 3 wide on the
turn and the gelding just kept coming all the way u the straight but he ran out of ground to be
beaten and short head.
An outstanding effort by Annabel and her team to freshen the gelding up with beach swimming
between Tuesday and Saturday and presenting him in such outstanding order for the race.
What a great ride this imported gelding is giving his owners and judging by his determination and
consistency, he looks well up to Group level and capable of winning a really nice race during the
Autumn Carnival.
At this stage there is a possibility that he may venture down to Victoria on the 19th with a run in the
Listed 500k Ballarat Cup.
As mentioned Sibaaq (GB) was imported into Australia after being purchased by Bennett Racing at
the Tattersalls HIT Sale last year with Stuart Bowman from Blandford Bstk helping in finding and
purchasing the gelding. Due to Covid, Stuart did all of the ground work at the sales, organised
vettings, xrays etc.
