Bennett Racing’s faith in bringing on board Kevin Corstens as a Bennett Racing trainer was again immediately rewarded with the slashing win by SHE SHAO FLY yesterday at Sandown.  At her 1st start for the stable, the filly belied her recent average runs to return to something like her old form with a powerful run from last at the turn to win running away. Also facing older mares for the first time apprentice Thomas Stockdale didn’t panic after she was slow away and had the filly in good rhythm in last place, approaching the turn he pulled her out widest and gathered the field in with 200 to go, letting down in a manner we hadn’t seen for a while. A Group 3 winner at 2 and now a metro winner at 3 hopefully the filly can now go on with it now she has found form.
All credit to Kevin Corstens and his team at Tyabb for turning the filly around. We saw yesterday no signs of the fierce over-racing that she had previously and no running about throughout the race.
This is the second filly that Kevin has taken over training for Bennett Racing, after the brilliant 1st prep for Kalkarni Royale which resulted in 3 wins from 5 starts including Moonee Valley Saturday win.
Thankyou to all owners who had the faith and confidence to send the filly to Kevin and congratulations on her great win.
